About the Instructors :

        Estella & Randy studied Tango in Buenos Aires, Argentina with Maria & Rodolfo Cierre. The late Rodolfo was known for his precise and fancy style of footwork and passed that quickly in his teaching to Randy.  They further studied Tango with Argentine Maestro Nito Garcia and his wife, Elba, who appeared as guest artists in Forever Tango and trained intensely with them.  In addition, the Los Dinzels, Tango Professors at the University of Buenos Aires and Orlando Pavia, known for his Elegant Walks of Salon Style Tango, were a great teaching influence on Estella & Randy In July 2001, Estella & Randy were one of seven couples chosen to study Tango Choreography under the direction of Carlos Copas, Academy Award Winner for the movie Tango.

      Estella's first encounter with Tango began in Montreal, Canada in 1992 and in l994 she studied briefly with Paul Pellicoro in New York before engaging in intense study with the Tango Masters of Argentina.  Estella first introduced Tango to St. Louis in 1996 in an episode of Healthy Lives on PBS where she taught Ann Keefe and Patrick Murphy a basic lesson. Estella and Randy are responsible for hosting the first successful TANGO WEEKEND in ST. LOUIS and THE TANGO BALL of May 2000 featuring TANGO MASTERS, Nito & Elba of Argentina.  The events were such an artisitic success that they became annual functions held each year in May. Estella and Randy are also credited with starting the monthly niteclub MILONGAS (1998) and weekly PRACTICAS in St. Louis.  In addition, they founded THE TANGO SOCIETY of ST. LOUIS in 1998 and incorporated in June 2001 as a non-for-profit organization which promotes the art and culture of the original TANGO from Argentina through educational and social events, thus encompassing all the above events.

      Estella & Randy are both certified Ballroom Dance Instructors of the state of California and are members of the United States Terpsichorean Association.  Together they instruct all Latin and Smooth Dances:  Rhumba, Cha!Cha!, Mambo, Salsa, Samba, American Waltz, Viennese Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango and Swing, however, specializing in Tango Argentino.  They successfully formed the Tango Rosa Dance Co. in 2001, a local dance troupe here in St. Louis.  In addition to teaching, Estella is a choreographer and costume/dress designer.  She specializes in dance theatre for the stage, and corporate events varying performances. In addition to co-instructing with Estella, Randy is an engineer and theatre set designer.      

    Estella and Randy are currently the Ballroom dance instructors at Washington University, with courses offered in Tango Argentino, Rhythm (Swing & Latin) and Smooth (Fox trot & Waltzes), and, they are recognized as one of the top Tango couples in the United States in this regard.  Their instruction includes three main levels of Tango plus a unique system for the very creative and advanced dance student.  In Fall of 2007, Estella and Randy were also invited to teach Ballroom Dance at The Ste. Genevieve Centre in Ste. Genevieve, Mo.  They perform a French Minuet solo at the annual King's Ball, a 250 year old tradition.

    Estella's dance background/education started at a very young age with classical ballet and tap, before entering ballroom at the age of 12, thus, continuing her studies and adding modern dance to her curriculumn.  She had a weekly dance series, titled Opa!, on Channel 9, teaching the Art of the Belly Dance and is the author of Opa! Creative Belly Dance .  She was also the guest artist on PBS Healthy Lives and instructed Ann Keefe and Patrick Murphy in Argentine Tango.  Randy's dance training is strictly Ballroom and Latin, and he now specializes in the South American Tango with his partner/wife, Estella.

    As Tango Artists, Estella & Randy have written, directed, and choreographed The Spirit of Tango, a  dance theatre production, in conjunction with the 100th anniversary of the St. Louis 1904 World's Fair Centennial Celebration of 2004, as well as, The Gypsies' Tango which premiered in St. Louis June 2005.  Their other works include; Taste of Tango and A Waltz in Christmas Time.   Gilberto Pinela, host of Enereate UPN Chanel 46, has invited Estella & Randy to appear as regulars with special interests in the events of The Tango Society of St. Louis thus covering these productions. Recently, they choreographed a Christmas Holiday Special with a personal interview for Channel 24 which airs annually.  Soldan Highschool also invited Estella to teach and choreograph Salsa.  They continue to be invited to various highschools and colleges in the Missouri and Illinois area instructing Tango Argentino, and other Latin Dances.
